Breath, Movement, and Sound: Somatic Voice Class

Los Feliz Conservatory

Discover Your Voice: Join Our Somatic Voice Class in Los Feliz

Your voice is more than just sound—it is breath, movement, and embodiment. In our Somatic Voice class, we explore singing as a full-body experience, using breath, focus, and storytelling to access the voice with joy and ease. This class is open to all levels and provides a welcoming space to deepen your connection to your voice in an expressive and supportive environment.

What to Expect

Through meditative, imaginative, and technical exercises, we will develop a deeper awareness of breath and movement as they relate to vocal expression. Drawing from teachings such as Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen’s Sensing, Feeling, and Action, Pauline Oliveros’ Sonic Meditations, and Andrea Olsen’s Body Stories, we will explore a range of techniques designed to cultivate a sense of safe embodiment through the voice. Students will engage in a vocabulary of breath developed by the instructor, Alice, to further expand their vocal potential.

Meet Your Instructor

Alice is a music, movement, and teaching artist based in Northeast Los Angeles. A composer and vocalist, her work is known for its introspective, dynamic, and ethereal qualities. Alice teaches Somatic Voice, Choral Singing, and Wilderness Awareness, integrating sensory and somatic practices into her instruction. She holds a B.A. in Music and Movement from Bennington College and is passionate about guiding students toward a deeper understanding of their vocal and artistic expression.

Class Schedule and Enrollment

Students can choose to enroll in either the Tuesday class at 2:30 PM or the Saturday class at 4:00 PM and will meet once weekly for a 1-hour class.
